MY WAY OF WORKING
I have an integral, inclusive approach to healing and well-being - combining my background in education and senior management with my continuing studies in psychotherapy, philosophy and the wisdom traditions to enrich and inform my work.
As a Psychotherapist I am primarily concerned with the underlying processes that affect your life and how you are in the world. This also entails being a Counsellor, which is more about helping you resolve immediate life-issues and learn new strategies to cope with them, and a Life-Coach, which is about teaching a wide variety of life-skills - personal, relational and workplace - to enhance your quality-of-life and well-being.
I listen with a trained ear and heart - noticing exactly what is arising in the moment, honouring whatever is emerging in the therapy session, attending to the lived experience of psyche-soul. I use a wide range of therapeutic interventions which include working with:

This therapeutic and transformative journey unfolds in a safe, supportive space, allowing the relationship between you and me, client and therapist, to develop at its own pace and in its own way. This ensures that the processing of painful memories and traumatic experiences is managed respectfully and systematically and is not overwhelming. Together we explore your inner landscapes, the feeling spaces, that determine how you are and how you act in the world. We attend to, and honour, all aspects of your lived experience, including body sensations and symptoms; dreams, emotions and feelings; mental patterns and thoughts; the energetic field; as well as your relationships with others, the world and the sacred — all that it means to be human!
As you develop a conscious relationship with your inner world - your authentic self - links begin to build between behaviours, body-felt responses, feelings, memories and thoughts. This allows healing, meaning and value to come from within your own unique process of inner work, rather than from any externally imposed assumptions or ideals about happiness, health or well-being.

ABOUT THIS MODALITY
Soul Centred Psychotherapy ™ was developed in the 1980’s by Dr. Kaalii Cargill and Andrew Cargill of the Kairos Centre, Melbourne, Australia. This way of working is based on the understanding that exploring the psyche in its totality enables consciousness to emerge and evolve. While Western culture has traditionally valued mind and spirit, as in science and organized religion, it has largely neglected soul, as in the embodied experience of being human. Soul Centred Psychotherapy ™ is not about fixing something that is supposedly broken; rather, it is about attending to the rich language of psyche-soul as it manifests in your daily life.
Soul Centred Psychotherapy ™ is committed to understanding the human experience as fully as possible and to alleviating needless suffering. Fundamental to this process is the development of “witness” or “mindfulness”, a state of being fully present in the moment, with attention available for whatever is happening and the capacity to focus on and observe all manner of sensory experience, without criticism or judgement.
MY BACKGROUND
I began my career as a high-school teacher in Melbourne, then moved to Chicago for post-graduate studies in psychology and business management. My intention was to combine these two fields of endeavour so as to bring a greater respect and understanding of the human condition into the business environment. Upon graduation I became a commercial banker, then relocated to Los Angeles where I worked for over twelve years as a senior bank executive and consultant, specialising in film financing and other services tailored to the needs of the entertainment industry and the creative community.
I returned to Melbourne in 1998 to establish my consulting practice and completed an additional four-year course of study in soul centred counselling and psychotherapy at the Kairos Centre.
