Body Mind & Sport is owned and operated by Patrick Costello and Karen Tacon. Both are experienced complementary health practitioners who together combine 17 years of clinical practice.

Patrick and Karen have recently relocated from Perth where they ran a busy Naturopathic clinic, on moving to Melbourne they will be working in two locations, IVANHOE for the Northern sububs and MALVERN for the South Eastern suburbs.
It is the mission of Body Mind & Sport to contribute to each client an overall sense of health and wellbeing by providing holistic healthcare treatments and effective education through the healing modalities they deliver.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A NATUROPATHIC CONSULT
An initial naturopathic consultation takes approximately one to one and a half hours. Your current health status and past health history is covered, along with inspecting the iris, tongue and nails to help assess digestive function, possible mineral deficiencies and constitutional integrity (the health bank account you are born with).
Consultations are aimed at formulating a simple but effective protocol to improve your condition and well being and reaching an understanding of the reasons behind what is causing your symptoms.
At the end of your consultation, certain supplements, herbal remedies, physical therapies or dietary changes may be suggested. A follow-up consult is usually booked for 1-3 weeks later to assess your progress, modify a prescriptions or to continue physical therapy (e.g. remedial therapies).

Consulting NaturopathKaren has qualifications in Homoeopathy & Naturopathy from the Perth Academy of Natural Therapies and a Post Graduate Diploma in Herbal Medicine from the Southern Cross Herbal School (Victoria). Karen has a special interest in natural fertility management and natural contraception methods, stress & fatigue, gastrointestinal problems, children and women’s health (especially menopause). She is passionate about instilling in her clients a love for eating healthy food.
Patrick Costello
B.Sc., N.D., R.T., Post Grad. Dip. Acu
Consulting NaturopathPatrick has qualifications in Naturopathy and Remedial Massage from the Perth Academy of Natural Therapies and a post Graduate Diploma in Acupuncture from the Australian College of Holistic Medicine. He also completed a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Western Australia with a double major in Anatomy & Human Biology and Human Movement & Recreation. Patrick is a Level II Iyengar Yoga teacher and continues ongoing training through various Senior Iyengar teachers.
Patrick’s special interests are in utilising special skills and therapies to address issues of pain and musculo-skeletal problems. This covers not only sports orientated people but the problems associated with ageing, injuries and general wear and tear in most of the population. He also specialises in weightloss programs for both men and women and digestive problems.
