SERVICES
Introducing Jen Barnes
Jen Barnes of Fluent Canine is one of Brisbane's first 'Dog Listeners' who teaches the method of Amichien Bonding. She is also a certified canine massage therapist and reiki practitioner who is committed to helping you provide optimum health care to your special companion/s.

DOG LISTENING and CANINE COMMUNICATION
Are you unhappy about your dog's behaviour? Do you ever think "WHY is it doing that?". Jen Barnes will teach you to communicate with your dog in it's own language using the method of Amichien Bonding. In doing so, you will establish a happy, calm relationship based on mutual respect where your dog will happily look to you as it's leader. For full information on Amichien Bonding and how it will change your relationship with your dog forever, please refer to the website.

CANINE MASSAGE
The growing practice of canine massage is a gentle and special therapy to enrich the health and wellbeing of your pet. More than just a pat or stroke, a massage can help your dog physically, mentally and emotionally.

Here are just a few of the reasons why massage is fabulous for your dog through all its life stages:

Puppies: Massage can alleviate discomfort caused by rapidly developing bones and muscles. It can reduce the risk of injury when pups are jumping, rolling, playing and exploring the world around them. Massage will also accustom your puppy to being handled which is important for stress-free vet visits. Very new puppies can be massaged right from their early days to aid in their healthy development.

Adult dogs : To maintain healthy muscles, keeping them strong, flexible and in peak condition. Massage will boost circulation, remove toxins and support the body’s natural healing process. The massage your dog receives when in their prime can assist them into a comfortable old age.

Elderly dogs or those suffering from arthritis or other joint disorders : Massage can reduce stiffness in old limbs, making it easier for dogs to get to their feet, stabilize themselves and move more comfortably and freely. Older dogs or those with arthritis may have decreased exercise levels, so massage is valuable for boosting circulation, keeping muscles toned and slowing atrophy (muscle wastage).

Recovering from injury or post-surgery rehabilitation : Working in conjunction with your dog’s veterinarian, massage is valuable in shortening recovery times, decreasing pain or discomfort and boosting circulation and healing to the injury site. It will assist in reducing adhesions or scarring and returning your dog to its normal activity levels.

Shy or adopted dogs : It can be a traumatic time moving from the pound or shelter to a new home. Massage can ease the transition for your dog, reducing stress and anxiety. If your dog is wary of humans, gentle and loving massage can help rebuild trust and confidence.

It doesn't matter if your dog is a pampered pet, working dog or canine athlete, a massage is a wonderful addition to their health care regime. Our dogs are made to move, and a regular massage can help them perform at their very best by:
* Increasing flexibility and range of motion
* Improving circulation and increasing blood supply and nutrients to the muscles
* Removing toxins from the system
* Enhancing tissue metabolism
* Releasing endorphins or ‘feel good’ chemical substances - because there is nothing better than a happy dog!

REIKI
This gentle and non-invasive therapy assists the body in rebalancing its own vital energy system. It brings together the physical and emotional aspects and supports the body's own natural healing process.

What does Reiki involve?:
Jen will place her hands gently on or just above your dog’s body, and be guided by their energy ebb and flow. Reiki is a calming and soothing therapy, and it is common for your dog to feel a great sense of relaxation. They may sigh, yawn, doze and fall asleep.

As a Reiki II Practitioner, Jen is attuned to give Reiki at a distance. This means she is also able to work with your dog's vital energy without placing her hands on your pet.

For dogs who may not be comfortable with being handled or massaged, Reiki is a wonderful alternative. As a therapy often used in relieving stress and anxiety, Reiki may be particularly useful in the nervous or fearful pet. It is a special, calming and comforting treatment for the elderly dog, or those suffering from chronic illness or discomfort.

Dogs enjoying good health can also benefit from Reiki treatments to maintain their energy balance, and it is a wonderful therapy to use in conjunction with massage.

Mobile Service
Because dogs are happier and more relaxed in their own environment, Jen provides a mobile service to your home. Travel costs vary depending on your location.
