Is a drug-free and pain-free birth possible?
SERVICES Are you dreaming of that "big day"?
…Or does the idea of childbirth fill you with fear and dread?
“The support Claire gave me was invaluable. When I first found out I was pregnant I was scared & wanted all the drugs possible. I'd heard stories from other young teenage mums about how badly they were treated during labour. That’s when I went looking for a doula. Once I found out what a doula does I was determined to get a doula. Out of all the doula’s I asked & interviewed, Claire was the most closely related to my beliefs and views. The first time I met her I instantly felt at ease with her and by the end of the first visit, I was excited about giving birth - and wanted to do it as drug-free as possible. By the time I went into labour I was calm and managed to get to 5cm dilated with out believing I was in labour!! When Claire arrived at the hospital she was excited for me and relaxed me straight away. She encouraged me during the whole labour, offering me sips of cold water when I didn’t even realise I needed them. There are so many things Claire did for me, but it would take so many pages to write! Claire was perfect in everyway & I can't recommend her enough. She is so amazing & me & my daughter were so lucky to find her. I will definitely ask her to be my doula again at my next birth!”

Hi,
My name is Claire and I can clearly remember back when I was having my first child. The moment I began to show, every woman I spoke to shared their birth story. Some made me terrified of the upcoming birth. For a while there, the big day sent shivers down my spine. But, with some really great information and the right support , I went on to have three amazing and beautiful birth experiences.
I soon realised that my birth stories seem to be the exception as opposed to the rule and sought to find out why.
That is when I decided to become a doula to help other women to have happy, beautiful and amazing birth experiences too.
A doula is a woman that supports women throughout their pregnancy, birth and in the early days at home. Providing respectful care and information to help parents make informed decisions on how they want to birth their baby and begin their new life as parents.
The positive effects of doula care are:
• 50% reduction on caesarean rates,
• 25% shorter labour,
• 60% reduction in epidural requests,
• 40% reduction in syntocinon use,
• 30% reduction in analgesia use,
• 40% reduction in forceps delivery.
If you are a first time mum, or have had an unhappy birthing experience in the past, the whole idea of “the big day” can be terrifying. Having a caring doula support you during your pregnancy and labour can make a world of difference to your birth experience.
...Or maybe you are looking for the ultimate baby gift for an expectant friend, daughter or niece.
